Principal's Welcome
QPARENTS
QParents is an online portal that allows parents to log in, view and manage a child’s student information from their smartphone, tablet or computer. This enhances the quality of parents’ engagement with the school and to significantly reduce administrative workload.
Parents have 24/7 access to functionality and student information such as:
- report cards
- enrolment details
- attendance details – includes notifying of absences
- invoices e.g. camp, instrumental
Please note that the information available on QParents is surfaced from OneSchool and the school configures the categories of functionality and information made available to parents. Parents are not able to see staff contact details and when the behaviour module is configured, only behaviour events restricted to “all staff” are shown in QParents and only the date, category and type (positive or incident) are displayed.

UPDATE - SCHOOL PHOTOGRAPHS
Exciting news! The photo files from our school photographer, Academy Photography Australia Pty Ltd, Liquidator, have arrived! This has created additional work for the office staff, however, we have accepted the help from a parent with photography skills and expertise to assist.
Our plan -
- Individual student and staff photos have been prepared and uploaded for use by the school.
- Whole class photo files are currently being prepared for release to families.
- Individual and family group photo files we believe are ready for release to families.
We are currently preparing a procedure for parents of students to request their files. Keep a look out next week for these instructions.
K-2 Deputy News
Firefighter visit
This week our Year 1 students had their first visit from our Mount Isa Firefighters. This is an important visit that happens with our year 1 students each year. They learned all about safe and unsafe fires and practised what to do in an emergency – STOP, DROP and ROLL and Get down low and GO GO GO! Thank you, Queensland Fire!
End of Term fast approaching
We are coming in to the last couple of weeks of a very busy and exciting term! Learning and assessment is taking place right up until the last day of school. It is important that students keep attending every day and finish the term strong! However, if you know you are going on holidays early, please keep in contact with your child’s classroom teacher so they can prepare accordingly.
Pre-Prep Playgroup
Pre-Prep playgroup is still happening every Wednesday afternoon from 1:30-2:30 in our Prep precinct. We know that we have lots of siblings of our current students on our list for Prep next year who we haven’t seen at playgroup yet. Our playgroup is a fantastic opportunity for your child to become familiar with our school environment and for us here at Barkly Highway to get to know your child before they start Prep next year. We would love to see as many of our future prep students at our last 2 playgroup sessions for the term! Keep a look out on our Facebook page for the reminders and please contact the school if you have any questions!
Therapy Dog visits
We love Miss Kara and Jeff being a part of our school. Jeff is a Therapy Dog who works with Miss Kara, they visit us every Wednesday. As you can see from our photos, he fits in very well.
Breakfast Club
Thank you Mrs Smith! Our students love seeing you and Izzy at Breakfast Club every Thursday and Friday. Over the last few weeks the students have been enjoying fresh fruit donated by Woolworths. Thank you, Woolworths Mount Isa!
Capacity in 1 Blue
1 Blue has been busy in the sandpit with their capacity assessment and building models of Mount Isa Mines and Uluru for their HASS assessment.
